Position Overview

The Senior Associate – Tax (Global Mobility Services) will be an integral part of the KPMG Global Services (KGS) Tax team — a diverse group of professionals located across multiple cities in India, delivering tax and compliance services to KPMG Firms worldwide.

This role focuses on supporting global tax and mobility engagements, including expatriate and foreign national taxation, global compensation, and payroll. You will leverage your technical expertise, analytical skills, and leadership abilities to deliver high-quality client outcomes while mentoring junior professionals. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review miscellaneous tax, payroll, and international assignment cost projection calculations.

  • Prepare and review tax returns, equalization calculations, and other tax forms for expatriate employees.

  • Apply technical expertise in tax compliance, compensation, global equity, and employment tax engagements to identify and resolve tax issues.

  • Participate in or lead projects involving expatriate tax, foreign national tax returns, global mobility support, global compensation review, global pensions, and payroll.

  • Report to Engagement Manager(s) or Senior Manager(s) and assist in coordinating overall engagement activities.

  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to junior team members.

  • Conduct tax research relevant to expatriate employees, including interpretation and application of tax laws.

  • Draft correspondence with IRS or state taxing authorities in response to tax notices and audits.

  • Review U.S. payroll reporting and withholding for expatriate employees for accuracy and compliance.

  • Train new joiners on expatriate taxation processes and best practices.

Skills & Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from a reputed university with excellent academic results.

  • Enrolled Agent certification or currently pursuing the Enrolled Agent qualification.

Work Experience:

  • 5 to 6 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably in a Big 4 firm.

Technical & Functional Skills (Mandatory):

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Comprehensive understanding of individual and income taxation principles.

  • Strong knowledge of global tax compliance and mobility tax processes.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of the Financial Services sector from a Global Mobility tax perspective.

  • Awareness of and interest in the U.S. political and economic environment.
