Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Analyst – Credit Analysis to join our Wealth Management division. The ideal candidate will perform in-depth credit assessments of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), privately held businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and commercial real estate clients. Working with advanced tools such as Moody’s Credit Lens, the Senior Analyst will analyze financial data, assess creditworthiness, and prepare comprehensive reports to support underwriting and lending decisions.

This role provides exposure to complex financial products, a collaborative work environment, and opportunities to develop deep expertise in credit analysis within the wealth management sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed credit analysis using financial statements, credit reports, and economic data.

  • Prepare comprehensive and independent credit reports, focusing on operational performance and financial health.

  • Monitor borrower performance and conduct periodic reviews to identify potential credit risks.

  • Mentor and guide junior analysts, ensuring adherence to established standards and controls.

  • Partner with relationship managers and internal stakeholders to develop tailored credit solutions aligned with client objectives.

  • Support the credit underwriting process by ensuring compliance with Northern Trust’s credit policies and risk management framework.

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.

  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and quality of deliverables, adhering to defined SLAs.

  • Stay updated on market trends, regulatory changes, and economic developments impacting credit risk.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen internal controls.

Skills & Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree (MBA, Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration) with 2–4 years of post-qualification experience in lending or credit analysis.

  • Additional certifications such as CFA, FRM, CMA, etc., are preferred but not mandatory.

Experience & Skills:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in credit analysis, financial spreading, or credit memo underwriting.

  • Strong understanding of lending products such as term loans and lines of credit.

  • Proficiency in Moody’s Credit Lens or similar credit tools.

  • Excellent analytical and financial modeling skills.

  • Strong command of MS Excel, Word, and Microsoft 365 applications.

  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with confidence to engage with senior stakeholders.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask under pressure.

  • A proactive and self-driven professional with mentoring capabilities.

About the Team

This position is part of the Financial Risk Division, under Global Risk, which plays a critical role in credit underwriting, monitoring, and risk management. The division safeguards Northern Trust’s financial stability through rigorous credit analysis, adherence to regulatory standards, and robust risk mitigation strategies.

The Credit Services team supports Wealth Management and Global Family Office clients, offering a wide range of lending services, including secured and unsecured loans, business financing, and commercial real estate lending.
