Position Overview

Tesco is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lead – Financial Accounting professional to join our Finance team in Bengaluru. This role is responsible for overseeing general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accuracy in period-end close processes, and maintaining high accounting standards in compliance with IFRS and internal controls. The ideal candidate will be a finance professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, stakeholder management experience, and a proven track record in process excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile General Ledger (GL) to Subledger and take full ownership of assigned period-end close processes.

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions while applying fundamental accounting principles, including debits/credits and control account management.

  • Maintain the completeness and accuracy of various financial trackers and review reconciliations in line with risk assessment and best practice methodologies.

  • Identify and highlight accounting issues within balance sheet reconciliations, providing probable solutions for resolution.

  • Act as a go-to expert for the team, providing guidance on accounting and reconciliation matters.

  • Collaborate with IT and Business teams to resolve system-related or transactional discrepancies.

  • Support audit and compliance activities, ensuring timely provision of documentation and adherence to control requirements.

  • Ensure all period-end and month-end activities are completed accurately and within deadlines.

  • Serve as a mentor and buddy to new joiners, assisting in training and knowledge sharing to strengthen team capability.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and promote a culture of accuracy, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.

  • Experience: 5–7 years of experience in financial accounting or related domains.

  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and financial control frameworks.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage stakeholders and finance processes.

  • Skilled in Control & Compliance, Financial Processing, and Communication.

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to derive insights from financial data.

  • High integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy.

  • Experience in leading or mentoring teams is an advantage.
