Sr. Accounting Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Accounting Specialist to manage end-to-end general accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, and continuous process improvements. The role requires strong technical expertise in SAP, R2R processes, US GAAP, and financial analysis.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce/Finance/Accounting (B.Com, BBA Finance, BBM or equivalent). A Master’s degree (M.Com/MBA Finance) or professional certification (CA Inter, CMA Inter, ACCA) is preferred.

Job Description

As a Sr. Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and compliant financial results while supporting key accounting processes across the organization. This role requires a solid educational foundation in accounting/finance, supported by strong hands-on experience with financial systems and reporting standards.

General Accounting & R2R

• Perform and oversee general accounting activities with strong conceptual understanding of Record to Report (R2R).

• Lead month-close activities and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

• Prepare month-end journal entries, including revaluations, accruals, reclassifications, and recurring entries.

• Deliver high-quality account reconciliations with no outstanding or unexplained items.

• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and audit requirements.

• Coordinate accounting methods and recommend improvements in departmental procedures.

Period Close Activities

• Handle VAT clearing, accrual postings, payroll postings, reconciliations, and other close activities.

• Utilize SAP modules (GL, AR/AP, MM, FA) for accounting tasks.

• Work on consolidation and reporting platforms such as Hyperion.

• Use tools like Power BI, RPA or other analytics platforms for automation and insights.

Business Partnership & Process Improvement

• Build strong relationships with finance and business stakeholders to deliver US GAAP–compliant financials.

• Provide financial analysis, explanations, and reports using SAP and established GAAP knowledge.

• Maintain transparent accounting practices and strong stakeholder communication.

• Support finance transformation initiatives, new projects, and transition of controllership activities.

• Identify and propose process improvement opportunities.

• Manage ad-hoc queries from business, in-country teams, and other internal groups.

• Flexibility to work in shifts based on business requirements.

Knowledge & Skills

Critical Skills

• Hands-on experience with SAP GL, AR/AP, MM, FA.

• Experience with consolidation tools like Hyperion Reporting.

• Strong understanding of R2R processes and global accounting best practices.

• Knowledge of US GAAP and international accounting frameworks.

• Excellent analytical, technical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Flexible shift availability.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in full close cycles for multinational companies.

• Prior audit experience (added advantage).

• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Experience with automation tools (Power BI, RPA, etc.).
